The historic California “Gold Rush” town of Chinese Camp has been torched by a rapidly spreading wildfire, burning several homes there.
CalFire, the state’s chief fire agency, said the wildfire was caused by lightning on Tuesday evenning. The blaze, known as the 6-5 Fire, has since grown to 6.25 square miles (16.1 square kilometers) in size and forced the evacuation of local areas in central California.
