The California Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of State Route 152 and Road 13 in Madera County.
Authorities say a Chowchilla police officer was heading eastbound on the 152 when they crashed into the right end of a big rig.
