New sign honors David McDonald ahead of Clovis Night Out

October 14, 2025 — A new sign has been installed at David McDonald Park in Clovis, recognizing the life and legacy of local businessman and philanthropist David McDonald. The sign, located at the park’s entrance at Temperance and Sierra avenues, was placed ahead of this weekend’s annual Clovis Night Out celebration to help visitors learn more about the park’s namesake.

David McDonald was best known as the former owner of Pelco, a security camera company that became one of the area’s largest private employers. He purchased the business in 1987 and oversaw its relocation to a large facility in Clovis, where it grew into a global manufacturer with thousands of employees worldwide. In 2007, McDonald sold Pelco to Schneider Electric for approximately $1.22 billion.

Beyond his business success, McDonald was widely recognized for his community involvement and philanthropy. He supported several local projects and organizations, including the Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center and the California 9/11 Memorial, both located in Clovis.
