Landmark plan aims to boost Fresno’s west side with improved transit and development sites

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno city leaders are laying the groundwork for future growth west of Highway 99 with the adoption of the West Area Neighborhoods Specific Plan, a roadmap aimed at guiding responsible and equitable development in one of the city’s fastest-growing regions.

The plan, formerly called the Specific Plan of the West Area, focuses on neighborhoods generally north of Clinton Avenue and east of Garfield Avenue.

It sets goals for community improvements including traffic and public transportation upgrades, pedestrian and bicycle enhancements, and the identification of sites for future residential and commercial development…
