FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is dead after colliding with a semi truck in Del Rey Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol announced.
According to CHP, just before 6 a.m. a big rig without a trailer was traveling westbound on American Avenue, approaching the POM Wonderful plant, as a Dodge Challenger was traveling behind it.
As the big rig attempted to make a left turn into the plant, officers say the Challenger collided into the rear of the semi at a high rate of speed, causing them both to spin out. The Challenger came to a rest in the nearby field, and the big rig ended up in the opposing lane.
Investigators report the driver of the Challenger, a man believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries…
