Central Valley Training Center celebrates 5-year milestone

SELMA – The California High-Speed Rail Authority celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Central Valley Training Center, recognizing 20 new graduates and surpassing 300 students who have completed the free, 10-week pre-apprenticeship program.

The Central Valley Training Center marked a major milestone as the California High-Speed Rail Authority honored the program’s 19th cohort of graduates. On Nov. 24, the center announced 20 new completers, meaning more than 300 students have now finished the 10-week course designed to launch residents into careers in the construction trades.

One of the newest graduates, Yvette Castro, said in the announcement that she joined the program after a mentor encouraged her to pursue construction. Learning how to work with electrical conduit convinced her she could build a future in the field…
