Fresno apartment fire caused by unattended incense, officials say

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An apartment burned in southeast Fresno on Monday afternoon after investigators say the fire was caused by burning scented incense left unattended.

Fresno Fire officials say around 3 p.m., firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the 4700 block of E. Church Avenue, near Chestnut Avenue.

When crews arrived, as seen in the video released by the fire department, they found flames coming from one unit, with the fire beginning to threaten neighboring apartments.

Firefighters say they were able to contain the fire to the unit of origin. Two people who lived in that apartment were displaced, but the remaining eight units in the building were not affected…
