KINGSBURG – Taking into consideration strong resident opposition, the Kingsburg City Council opted not to award any housing unit allocations to a development proposed in the southwest corner of the city.
After more than an hour of public input on Dec. 3, the council voted to deny an application for allocations submitted by San Joaquin Valley Homes. Although council members were concerned denying the application could open them up to adverse legal action, they were also concerned with the accuracy of information submitted by the applicant and how the development would fit into Kingsburg.
“My job up here today is to evaluate this project based on the product that is put before me, … and for me, based on that, I don’t support it,” Mayor Brandon Pursell Jr. said. “I don’t support the allocations because I have annexation concerns … and I have concerns that this is a small step and there’s errors in it, and anytime there’s an error, … the answer is no.”…
