Selma PD receives grant to reduce underage drinking

SELMA – A series of grants will be boosting local law enforcement efforts to prevent and reduce instances of underage drinking.

On Dec. 10, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) announced that 27 local agencies will be supported with up to $30,000 to combat alcohol-related harm, and the Selma Police Department is among the awardees. The grants were made possible thanks to a $3 million award to ABC from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

“We’re truly thankful for the ongoing partnership and strong support from OTS and NHTSA,” said ABC Director Paul Tupy in a statement. “This grant gives us vital resources to keep alcohol out of the hands of underage people and make California communities safer for everyone.”…
