Road outside Easton where 2-year-old and her mom died notorious for crashes, neighbors say

EASTON, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The section of road in Fresno County where a mother and her 2-year-old daughter were killed has been a problem for years, according to those who live close to the deadly intersection.

The two killed in the crash were named on Thursday as 28-year-old Samantha Kellogg of Fresno and her daughter, 2-year-old Elena Kellogg. Debris from the crash remains scattered at the intersection of Walnut and Jefferson.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the mother and daughter died after their car failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into an SUV. Investigators said Samantha Kellogg was not wearing a seatbelt, and Elena Kellogg was neither restrained nor in a car seat.

“I had woken up and everybody was yelling,” said Aiden Wettlaufer, who lives nearby. “I came all the way out to the car. I got out of the car. I see two individuals pinned inside.”

The crash was very close to home for Kimberly Calzacorta, with the vehicles coming to a rest in her front yard. She says there have been at least five accidents in the area within the last four years…
