City of Clovis proposes three year water rate hike for financial stability

CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — The City of Clovis is considering a significant increase in water rates to address rising costs and ensure financial stability.

The city has not raised water rates in 16 years, but a proposed plan, also known as Proposition 218, would see prices increase by 23% annually for three years starting in 2027.

“With COVID, with inflation, we’ve really found that prices have gone up dramatically,” Kevin Tuttle, assistant public utilities director for Clovis, said. “We hit a point where we just recognized that inflation is not gonna stop and we need to make an adjustment.”…
