FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department’s Traffic Unit includes the men and women in blue, plus a tiny but mighty drone that they use as their eyes in the sky.
“One thing about our current administration, we’re really pushing technology,” said Traffic Unit Sgt. Mark Van Wyhe. He says they use the drone to investigate fatal and serious wrecks, and those involving DUIs.
Once it’s up, it takes hundreds of photos and videos, capturing evidence of the scene. “When we put this together, you will see the intrusion, you’ll see how the cars went together, how much, what the impact was. These guys can figure out speeds, they can figure out crush damage, all that stuff,” Van Wyhe explained…
