‘Wave at them, smile, thank them’: Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Friday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

It’s a day to show appreciation to those who spend the holidays away from their loved ones, put their lives on the line, and pledge to serve and protect our community. “I often tell people this is probably the best place in the world to do law enforcement, especially right now,” said Fresno Deputy Chief of Police Burk Farrah.

Despite strained relationships between some law enforcement agencies and communities nationwide, Central Valley first responders say they feel a strong sense of support. “In my opinion, as opposed to other places where they’re talking about defund the police or take away officers’ ability to do their job.
