Construction site fire in Fresno temporarily closes railroad

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Approximately 20 workers were on scene when a fire started inside a construction site on Wednesday morning, according to the Fresno Fire Department.

Firefighters reported that just after 8:45 a.m., they responded to Church and Sundland avenues for a construction site fire.

Responding crews reported smoke and flames coming from a “false shoring,” the temporary structure used to support the temporary mold for the actual concrete structure. The structure was part of the new Church Avenue overpass that is under construction.

Firefighters said they had to close down the railroad, stopping train traffic, so they could access the construction site…
