‘It’s a philosophy’: Why a Fresno kitchen is putting people first before profit

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A downtown Fresno non-profit kitchen is serving more than meals; it’s serving culture, connection, and a second chance to many in the community.

Inside a small space on P Street in downtown Fresno, the kitchen is busy, but the mission goes far beyond what’s on the plate.

“It’s a philosophy. It’s a way of life, it’s an intersection of life, food and culture,” said Xef who is the Founder of My Homies Kitchen. “A majority of the food that we eat today is indigenous food, and My Homies Kitchen is a starting point for reawakening that culture.”…
