Fowler council hears updates on city happenings

FOWLER – City staff are keeping busy with ongoing developments, and if things continue to stay the course, residents can anticipate a handful of changes throughout the city.

On Feb. 17, the Fowler City Council meeting saw a handful of brief, but meaningful updates to ongoing city happenings. Topics ranged from well No. 9 construction, city council compensation and grant applications for infrastructure upgrades.

Bringing the walls down

In the agenda’s consent calendar, Item 7D proposed to extend the funding expenditure deadline of the Well No. 9 Drought Resiliency Project to Dec. 31 of this year. The item was not pulled from the consent agenda, but Councilmember Karnig Kazarian requested clarification on the reasoning for this amendment, and a recap of previous ones.

The project agreement has seen four amendments, with the first one being made to extend the project’s completion deadline to Dec. 31, 2025, after the initial grant agreement required all project work to be completed by Dec. 31, 2024.
