SANGER – Following pushback from some community members, the city has opted out of changing up how its contract with the Sanger Chamber of Commerce is handled.
On Feb. 5, the city council meeting’s consent agenda included an item that would designate City Manager Nathan Olson as the contract administrator over Flock Safety, CSG, Interwest and the Sanger District Chamber of Commerce. As contract administrator, Olson could exercise voluntary extensions, terminate contracts with or without cause and expand or reduce services; so long as it’s within the overall parameters of the contract, and is subject to approval as to legal form by the city attorney.
However, the chamber’s inclusion in that list raised concerns among some residents, many who expressed their belief that this move would do away with the mutual communication and negotiation that has been typical of chamber contracts in the past…
