FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A local veterinary clinic in Fresno is warning about a scam involving AI after they say an elderly man was contacted by someone claiming the clinic had his missing pet.
According to Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic, located at 5169 N Blackstone Ave., the office received a call on Thursday from an elderly man who said he had been contacted by someone claiming the clinic had his service dog, Chewie, who had been missing since November.
The assistant manager of the clinic, Samantha Ocegueda, says the man was even sent AI images of his pet that made it appear as if the animal had just undergone a procedure at the clinic.
Ocegueda says the man was then instructed to send money online in order to get his pet back…
