Total lunar eclipse visible across Central California tonight

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KGPE) – In the early morning hours of Tuesday, a total lunar eclipse will be visible across the valley and Sierra. The sun, Earth, and moon will line up, putting the moon in Earth’s shadow.

The sky will be mostly clear, so most areas will have good visibility to see the eclipse.

During the peak of the eclipse, the moon will have a reddish tint. Colors with shorter wavelengths, like blues and violets, get scattered by Earth’s atmosphere. Red and orange have longer wavelengths, and those colors make it through Earth’s atmosphere, and to our eyes…
