Q&A With Reedley Police Officer Sergeant Victor Perez

It’s been a while since we last interviewed one of the police officers with the Reedley Police Department and we thought it was time long overdue. It’s always interesting to get to know one of Reedley’s officers a bit better. This week we chatted with Sergeant Victor Perez, who was born and raised in Reedley.

KRL: When did you decide you wanted to become a police officer and why? I understand you were an explorer first, can you explain what the explorer program is?

Sergeant Perez: I always saw the police officers drive around town and always saw them at my schools. Every time I saw them, I felt a sense of relief, safety, and security. I wasn’t taught this, nor was I ever persuaded to like them. Regardless of run ins, good or bad, I may have had with them, I just always had this respect for police officers and whenever I needed them, they were there with no hesitation. I decided at a young age I wanted to have that same effect on people of the community I grew up in, and that is why I wanted to become a police officer.
