Next phase of Veteran Memorial Plaza approved

SANGER – The city is now on its way to completing the Veterans Memorial Plaza, a project that’s been in the making for nearly 20 years.

In the April 2 consent calendar, the Sanger City Council approved a base bid contract to Truxell and Valentino Landscape Development, Inc. for phase two of the Veteran Memorial Plaza. This second phase will complete park improvements including landscaping, irrigation and symbolic visual elements.

On the current patch of land along Jensen Avenue will stand granite memorial walls that will bear flags representing each military branch, as well as those considered missing in action or prisoners of war. The planned concrete plaza area will also feature rose gardens, raised planters, a shade trellis, park signage and graphic information panels to educate visitors on the various military branches…
