Plano ramps up paving, lighting projects this summer

Plano drivers and trail users will see construction activity across the city this summer as crews work on paving, concrete repair, lighting and utility projects, according to the city.

Demolition of medians on Los Rios Boulevard began in early June, the week after summer break started, as part of a $293,900 paving improvement project near Plano East Senior High School. City Council approved the contract, which will modify the roadway medians to better align with the school’s current layout and improve how vehicles enter and exit the campus. Two new right-turn lanes will be added in the northbound direction for students and parents entering the school. The project is expected to be complete and open before school starts next month.

Concrete repairs on Park Boulevard between Preston Road and Independence Parkway will begin Friday, July 10. City Council approved the $3.2 million contract at its May 26 meeting. The work will prepare the roadway for a future ultra-thin asphalt overlay and includes an estimated 29,900 square yards of arterial concrete, 10,500 square feet of sidewalk and 35 barrier-free ramps. The project is anticipated to be completed in late 2027…
