Charlie Woods rebounded from an opening 3-over 75 by shooting a 2-under 70 in the second round of the Junior PGA Championship at PGA Frisco. The performance moved the 17-year-old to 1-over 145 and tied for 46th after 36 holes.
Woods advanced through the tournament’s first cut, which reduced the boys’ field to the top 60 players and ties. However, he later shot a 3rd-round 77 and missed the separate 54-hole cut for Friday’s final round.
A rough start on day one
Woods opened the championship with a 3-over 75 on Fields Ranch East. The score left him tied for 53rd and close to the projected 36-hole cut. He needed a steadier performance to avoid an early exit.
