A Carrollton store employee was assaulted and choked during a robbery at a business in the 1900 block of East Belt Line Road on Tuesday, but managed to give officers the getaway vehicle’s license plate before the suspect got away. Within less than 30 minutes of the initial call, that single detail led police across city lines into Dallas, where the suspect was located and taken into custody.
According to Carrollton TX Police, officers responding to the robbery found that the victim, a store employee, had been assaulted and choked during the incident. Despite the attack, the employee was able to provide the suspect vehicle’s license plate number to responding officers. Police then used Flock Safety automated license plate reader technology to locate the vehicle in Dallas, where officers contacted the suspect and made an arrest. Carrollton police described the outcome as an example of how technology, solid police work, and quick information from victims can come together to solve crimes faster, adding that the combined effort helps keep the community safer.

A Corridor Built for Speed, and for Cameras
The robbery took place along East Belt Line Road, a stretch that sits within a major industrial and commercial corridor between Interstate 35E and Josey Lane, according to the City of Carrollton. The road serves as a primary east-west artery connecting Carrollton to neighboring Metroplex cities, meaning heavy daily vehicle traffic flows through the area at nearly all hours.
