$230 Million Lake Lavon Bridge Expansion Proposed Between Lucas And Princeton

A proposed $230 million TxDOT project could bring a much wider roadway and new shared-use paths to the growing area between Lucas and Princeton, including a six-lane replacement for the existing bridge across Lake Lavon.

The Texas Department of Transportation is studying plans to reconstruct and widen approximately 4.71 miles of FM 3286 and FM 546, stretching from FM 1378 in Lucas to FM 982 near Princeton.

The project was presented Aug. 25 during a public open house at Southfork Ranch in Parker. While the proposal would significantly change the corridor, construction is not imminent. The project currently has no construction funding, meaning TxDOT cannot move it to the construction letting stage until money is identified.
