A 42-year-old Garland man was arrested without incident in Dallas three weeks after police say he fired shots at another driver during a road rage confrontation near South Cockrell Hill Road and East Highway 67 in Duncanville. Kevin Gray now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the August 11 shooting, which left no one injured despite the gunfire.
According to FOX 4 News, the case originated when a driver reported that a Tesla driver opened fire on him while both vehicles were stopped at the intersection. Duncanville police detailed the arrest in a Facebook post, saying investigators used automated license plate reader cameras to identify Gray as the suspect before tracking him down. As reported by WFAA, Gray was taken into custody in Dallas on September 3, roughly three weeks after the shooting.
Duncanville police said in their statement that the suspect’s actions placed the caller in danger and put numerous motorists and citizens at risk. The department added that it remains committed to protecting the community and holding accountable those who endanger others.
A Second Case Cracked By the Same Camera Network
This isn’t the first time Duncanville investigators have leaned on their license plate reader system to close out a road rage case in recent weeks. The department previously used Flock automated cameras to locate 58-year-old Reo Bowman Jr., who was arrested on August 18 for a July 28 shooting on Interstate 20 that left a driver shot in the face, the same WFAA report notes.
