Local leaders, residents discuss Collin County’s future

Area executives and experts say the future is bright in Collin County, though there is always more work to be done.

Leaders from key corners across the region came together at the Urban Rio in Plano to discuss its future, Sept. 29. The forum was organized by The Dallas Morning News as part of a three-day pop-up newsroom. Restaurant critic and Plano native Sarah Blaskovich moderated the event and introduced topics to panelists.

Blaskovich, who now lives in East Dallas, said that she has personally seen excitement, business and the population shifting north over the years. She pointed to Tin Star Tacos, which grew a major cult following across the region when it was started in Uptown Dallas in 1999. After being shut down for nearly a decade, the restaurant recently reopened in a new McKinney location with an expansion to Frisco planned for next year…
