Learn about the Legacy Keepers of Old East McKinney

DALLAS (KDAF) — Black History Month is an opportunity for the community to learn, acknowledge and honor those who paved the way before us.

The city of McKinney wants to share its Black History with North Texas. The city is encouraging Texans to visit during February to enjoy signature events and programs scheduled to honor, celebrate and uplift the contributions of African American leaders to the culture and society in McKinney and surrounding areas.

There will be a pop-up exhibit at the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library. McKinney’s Black Heritage: Remembering Special Moments in Time will be available for the rest of the month until Feb. 29.

There will also be a celebration on Feb. 4 that will feature live music and choir performances. McKinney events also include a 2024 College Megafest on Feb. 17 and a Gospel Brunch on Feb. 18.
