Governor Abbott’s directive follows a request from Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson, prompting this mark of respect for the city to come together to pay homage to the fallen officer. According to the City of Dallas press release, businesses, individuals, and political entities across the Dallas area are encouraged to lower their flags in solidarity.
