Thriving Texas city earns prestigious state music friendly designation, Gov. Abbott announces

Governor Greg Abbott announced today that the City of Rockwall has been designated a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). This recognition comes after Rockwall completed the multi-step certification process, making it the latest city to join a program aimed at fostering music-related economic development and job creation.

“Congratulations to Rockwall,” Governor Abbott said. “Music is key to the Texas brand and vital to our economy. Communities like Rockwall work hard to develop their local music industries, which boosts job creation and economic growth.”

The certification highlights Rockwall’s commitment to supporting its vibrant music scene. Known as the “Free Live Music Capital of North Texas,” the city offers numerous live music events, including its annual Founders’ Day celebration and the Harbor’s free concert series.
