Drought improves statewide, but steps back taken locally

AUSTIN, Texas – It’s another Thursday in Central Texas, which means a new drought monitor is released. This week, we’ve seen some improvements throughout the Lone Star State, with areas not in a drought up by 3%, while areas that are “abnormally dry” down by that same margin. We also saw a 2% decrease in areas under a “moderate” drought. Still, there were gains of roughly 1% for “severe” and “extreme” drought levels statewide.
