Denton man sentenced to 36 months for smuggling children into the U.S. in south Texas

SOUTH, Texas – A Denton man has been sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for bringing an illegal alien to the United States, with credit for time served. Carlos Ortiz-Dena, also known as Carlos Ortiez-Dena, 28, along with co-defendants Sara Adelina Rodriquez and Cecelia Gabriela Guerrero, approached the primary inspection area of the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, according to court documents. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer (CBPO) observed three minor children sleeping in the backseat of the vehicle.
