Former Uber driver stands trial for striking down Dallas cop six years ago

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- The trial for a man who struck and critically injured a Dallas Police officer is finally going to trial six years after the fact.

63-year-old Boniface Madubuko is accused of striking Dallas officer Brannon Barber in October of 2018. At the time Barber was helping guard a previous accident scene on I-20 near Mountain Creek Parkway. Barber was laying flares when he was struck and thrown nearly 100 feet.

He has been waiting nearly six years for the former Uber driver to be brought to trial. The charge could land Madubuko in prison for life.
