DALLAS – Searchers recovered the body of a 26-year-old man at Mountain Creek Lake on Saturday after authorities responded to reports of two people being swept away.
The search continues for his missing 5-year-old son, according to a family member.
Dallas Fire-Rescue, Dallas police and the Game Warden’s Office have been investigating the 911 call that came in at 1:37 p.m. near 2779 Mountain Creek Parkway
“Reports indicated a child was swept under while fishing in a creek in the area,” said Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman. “The boy’s father jumped in to rescue him and was also swept under, and neither of them resurfaced.”
The father’s body was recovered about 5 p.m. The Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm his identity and the cause of death, Evans said.
“Efforts to find the child continued until approximately 7 p.m., at which point the search was terminated due to the diminishing light conditions,” Evans said. “Efforts will resume (Sunday) morning by DPD’s Dive Team.”
