FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys’ season is in the tank at 3-7, and with not much hope of the franchise making a playoff run, many think that putting Trey Lance into the starting quarterback role is a no-brainer.
With Dak Prescott out for the season and Cooper Rush already a known commodity, fans have been wondering why Lance, in who Dallas invested a fourth-round pick, hasn’t seen the field when it makes sense for the Cowboys to finally see if that fourth-round pick was worth it.
Head coach Mike McCarthy , who is also the offensive play-caller, has detailed exactly why Lance isn’t starting, and it is a brutal truth that Cowboys Nation is going to have to accept.
“We start each week, you build the plan, and you try to set your lineup to win the game,” McCarthy said on 105.3 The Fan . “It’s not really what Trey needs to do, Trey’s really done everything that’s been asked of him. He’s developing, he has a really good understanding of the offense, we have done things for him package-wise if that opportunity does present itself.
