The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled the city of McKinney does not have to pay a woman anything after police ruined her house while trying to make an arrest.
A wanted man tried to hide from police inside the home of Vicki Baker in 2020. She got out but police had to use explosives and teargas to try to get the criminal out. The house was destroyed.
The Court ruled government does not owe a person money if it damages property while carrying out law enforcement activities.
