Collin County residents woke up to winter weather this morning as sleet began falling around 7 a.m., followed by snow about 45 minutes later. In response, cities are implementing several measures to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions. Plano Road Safety City sanding trucks have been deployed focusing on major intersections, bridges, city facility parking lots and emergency locations like hospitals, police stations and fire stations. Plano uses a sand and salt mixture to improve traction and melt ice. Residential streets will not be sanded unless emergency vehicles require access.
