K-9 Unit and Drone Collaboration Leads to Arrest of Suspected Vehicle Thief in Trophy Club

A collaborative effort between a K-9 unit and drone operators helped police apprehend a man after a stolen vehicle was tracked into Trophy Club last Sunday. The initial tip came from a Flock camera system, which flagged a Mercedes sedan reported as stolen and alerted local police near 9 p.m., according to a FOX 4 News report. After the vehicle was found abandoned at The Vineyards Apartments, officers from various departments embarked on the search for the suspect.

Using the combined resources of Trophy Club’s K-9 Unit and Northlake’s drone technology, law enforcement closed in on a construction area by the apartments where the suspect, identified as Randy Veloz, was arrested on charges including evading arrest and unauthorized use of motor vehicle. Within the Mercedes, authorities uncovered suspected narcotics, stolen property, and a collection of identification alongside financial instruments, elements which could precipitate further charges.
