Winter’s not done yet. Here’s when chilly temperatures will return to South Texas.

After a historically cold January in South Texas , Mother Nature has flipped the script so far this February. Through the first four days of the month, San Antonio’s average high temperature has been 81 degrees, which resulted in the city’s second-warmest start to February.

If you’ve been enjoying this change of pace, you’re in luck. Near-record high temperatures are going to continue as we push into the second half of the week. San Antonio could even get close to 90 degrees by Saturday.

But it’s still February, after all. Weather models are showing with increasing confidence that a cold front will move through the region by Sunday and sink daily temperatures to levels closer to the climate-normal. Here’s what you should know.

Wednesday’s forecast

Daily temperatures well above average will continue Wednesday, but because of increased cloudiness, afternoon highs may become slightly cooler than in the past few days. San Antonio temps will start in the morning in the mid-60s and rise into the 70s after 10 a.m.

Temperatures will slowly but steadily rise through the middle of the day. Afternoon temperatures should reach the upper 70s around San Antonio under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Areas of isolated drizzle are possible, but the chance of rain is less than 10%.

Record temps continue

Slightly drier air is expected to move in for the second half of the week, leading to more sunshine and warmer temperatures in San Antonio. By Thursday, high temperatures will be near the daily record of 83 degrees. Temps will rise a couple of degrees on Friday, potentially threatening the next daily record of 86 degrees…
