FAIRVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – A temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that would serve East Texas members is still awaiting development. In late November 2024, Church leaders reached an agreement with the town of Fairview on reduced construction size. Now, the Church says the town possible failure to uphold that deal may force the Church to sue.
In August, the town rejected the Church’s initial plan for a 65-foot high, 45,000 square foot temple that was to be topped with a 109-foot spire. After a November mediation, the town agreed to a “smaller single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet and a steeple height of 120 feet.”
Now, those modified plans for construction are once again up in the air. Latter-Day Saints Communications Director for the Dallas-East area, Melissa McKneely, spoke to KLTV Wednesday about their current situation…
