‘He took in these children as a father, only to become their worst nightmare,’ prosecutors say of North Texas man sentenced to 40 years

MCKINNEY, Texas — Benjamin Brumlow, a 58-year-old from Kilgore, Texas, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

Brumlow, who had fostered and later adopted two children, began abusing the older child around the time of the adoption, with the abuse continuing for several years. In 2019, he started abusing the younger child, who bravely disclosed the abuse in 2022, leading to an investigation by Plano Police Detective Chris Jones. The victims provided detailed accounts during forensic interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.

A Collin County jury found Brumlow guilty, and Judge Kim Cooks sentenced him to 40 years in prison, a term that carries no possibility of parole under Texas law…
