In a significant move against international drug trafficking, Mexico has extradited 29 alleged cartel members to the United States this week.
Among those extradited is José Rodolfo “El Gato” Villarreal-Hernández, a high-profile cartel leader accused of orchestrating the murder of a Southlake, Texas man in 2013.
Villarreal-Hernández, who was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, is believed to have ordered the hit on Juan Jesus Guerrero Chapa, a former lawyer for the Gulf Cartel and a U.S. government informant. Guerrero Chapa was gunned down in Southlake Town Square while shopping with his wife.
