In Dallas, Texas, a pickup truck crashed into a sinkhole, injuring the driver. What is is the status of the driver and what caused the sinkhole? Here’s what is known at the time of writing.
When Did The Crash Happen In Texas?
As reported to WFAA, the crash occurred on the morning of April 7th, 2025, around the time of 9:30 AM. Per residents of the 1800 block of Riverway Drive, they were alarmed by a loud sound at that time. When they went outside, they discovered a truck in a sinkhole.
One neighbor who witnessed the aftermath, quickly assisted the driver out of the crashed vehicle. Emergency services were quickly summoned to the scene. The driver, Kim Johnson, was transported to a Baylor Scott and White medical facility for care.
How Did The Sinkhole Happen?
WFAA reveals that the sinkhole in question happened because a broken mainline for wastewater. Measuring at 27 inches, the problem resulted in the sinkhole happening. In addition, NBCDFW was able to reach out to Jaime Resendez, who said the following:
“My office has been made aware of the sinkhole that opened up this morning on Riverway Dr., and my thoughts are with the individual who was injured. I’ve been in contact with city staff to ensure that the site is secured and that an investigation is conducted to determine the cause. I understand and share the concerns of residents. Ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods is a top priority, and I will be working closely with city departments to assess the condition of surrounding infrastructure and explore both immediate and long-term solutions.”…
