Dallas residents should keep their umbrellas at the ready as the National Weather Service forecasts a week that’s ripe with potential for rain. There’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing later this afternoon, with temperatures hovering around a warm 85 degrees. Winds from the south could hit speeds of 10 to 15 mph, occasionally gusting as high as 20 mph.
The evening is looking just as unsettled, with the likelihood of precipitation increasing to 40 percent, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. While temperatures will dip to a low around 67, those gusts of south southeast wind will continue to sweep through at similar speeds. Wednesday is promising an even wetter outlook, as showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to roll through the city before 1 p.m., resuming between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then again after 4 p.m. Heavy rainfall could accompany some of the storms, with new rainfall amounts set to land between a half and three quarters of an inch.
The National Weather Service also warns of a 100 percent chance of precipitation on Wednesday, with a high of 79 degrees amid persistent south southeast winds, which may reach gusts up to an even brisk 30 mph.
