LIST: Measles case confirmed in Denton County: Public health officials issue advisory

Denton County Public Health (DCPH) has confirmed its first case of measles since 2019, sparking concerns about potential exposure in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The infected individual, an adult with an unknown vaccination status, visited multiple public locations between April 19 and April 22, potentially exposing others to the highly contagious virus.

Health officials have released a list of locations the individual visited, including Globe Life Field in Arlington during a Texas Rangers game attended by over 39,000 people. Other sites include restaurants, a church, and retail stores in Flower Mound, Lewisville, and Richardson. Authorities are urging anyone who visited these locations during the specified times to monitor for symptoms until May 13.

Dr. Matt Richardson, Director of Public Health for Denton County, emphasized the importance of vaccination in preventing the spread of measles. “Today’s case is further evidence that measles cases are on the rise – and the DFW area is no exception,” he stated. “Vaccines are crucial, and anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.”…
