The Flower Mound Town Council unanimously approved new bicycle and micromobility safety regulations at its May 5 meeting, targeting distracted riding and aiming to protect younger users.
The ordinance, which takes effect in early June, applies to bicycles and powered devices like e-scooters and e-bikes. It includes a helmet requirement for children under 14 and bans handheld device use and hearing-impairing headphones or earbuds while riding on public property.
