ALLEN, Texas — A Tom Thumb store in fast-growing Collin County will shutter this summer, the supermarket’s parent company confirms.
The Tom Thumb store in the 900 block of W. McDermott Drive in Allen will close on or before July 5, parent company Albertsons Companies Southern Division confirms, citing competition from other nearby stores.
“Based on the timing of the lease renewal for this location and the proximity of nearby company stores, the difficult decision was made to close this location. In such a competitive environment, our company must sometimes make the tough decision to close an underperforming store so that we can reinvest in our remaining stores in the marketplace,” the company said in a statement…
