The Dallas Police Department announced the termination of three officers following disciplinary hearings held by Chief of Police Raquel Comeaux.
Sergeant David Bayson, a veteran officer who had been with the department since 2010, was fired after an arrest for Assault – Family Violence, classified as a Class A misdemeanor. The incident striking at the heart of ethical policing has compelled the department to sever ties with Bayson, as this kind of offense directly contravenes the principles the public expects officers to uphold. Although the specifics of Bayson’s charges have not been provided by the department, the classification indicated it involved violence against a family member.
Senior Corporal Raneen Bazzi, with the department since June 2015, was also terminated for similar charges.
