‘A lot of money’ | Dallas wants billion dollar loan to kick start convention center project

DALLAS — City of Dallas officials will brief council members Wednesday on a proposal to take out a $1 billion loan to advance the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center renovation project.

The short-term loan would allow the city to move the project forward in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to a prepared presentation.

“It’s a lot of money,” said Council Member Paul Ridley. “I want to hear staff’s explanation of why that’s necessary.”…
