Frisco doctor pays $3.5M to settle COVID fraud claims

A Frisco physician agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle False Claims Act allegations in the Eastern District of Texas, Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced.

Samad Khan will pay the U.S. government $3.5 million to resolve claims that he violated the False Claims Act by knowingly submitting or causing the submission of false claims to the Health Resources and Services Administration COVID-19 Claims Reimbursement to Health Care Providers and Facilities for Testing, Treatment and Vaccine Administration for the Uninsured Program for evaluation and management services that were not performed.

From approximately May 2020 to April 2022, the Uninsured Program reimbursed eligible providers for COVID-19 tests, testing-related items and services, treatment and vaccines administered to uninsured individuals.
